Choreography
Margie Gillis has signed several
choreographies at the request of her peers or various dance companies.
To celebrate her 35
years of career in dance, Gillis presented her M.Body.7,
a choreographic tour de force in which she created, for each of
her seven dancers, a piece that expressed a fundamental aspect of
their personality. For the Alberta Ballet, she created Rivers
Without Bridges; and, for the Bruce Wood Company, she choreographed
the work entitled Towards the Sea. The Cirque du Soleil
commissioned her to create two solos for LOVE, a moving
tribute to the Beatles and their music presented in Las Vegas. Also,
the Stella Adler Studio of New York and the TDT of Toronto regularly
call upon Margie Gillis’ expertise as a choreographer.
The repertoires of
dancers such as Hari Krishnan, Barbara Glazer, Holly Bright, Risa
Steinberg, Rex Harrington, Rena Schenfield, Tedd Robinson, Laurence
Lemieux and Bill Coleman, among others, all include works choreographed
for them by or with Margie Gillis.
