Laurence Lemieux
Dancer / Choreographer
Born in Quebec City, Laurence Lemieux received her training at L'école supérieure de danse du Québec, and the Toronto Dance Theatre School.
During her years at the Toronto Dance Theatre (1986-1994), Laurence choreographed and presented her own work.
She performed Crosswalk, a haunting minimalist solo, at the Canada Dance Festival in 1994, which typified what has become her choreographic trademark
: a gentle nostalgia offering subtle glimpses into her past. In 1991 Laurence co-founded the Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie with her partner Bill Coleman.
Their company collaborates with choreographers, composers, visual artists and various communities, in order to create unique and socially minded artistic projects.
